“Stofstuk”, a composition for singing bowl, contact mic, vinyl recording and laptop, was one of the many 3” cd’s Rutger “Machinefabriek” Zuydervelt recently unleashed. A beautiful, introspective piece of electronica. Shortly after it’s initial release, this collection of remixes appears.
Kruimeldief proves that Rutger is a dutch artist to be cherished and pampered. There’s more than 30 remixers (26 on cd and 10 more to be downloaded), and names like Kim Cascone, Greg Haines, Xela, Mitchell Akiyama, Alva Noto, Svarte Greiner, Julien Neto (to name but a few) prove Rutger’s international acknowledgement!
Everyone starts from the same piece, and as a result Kruimeldief sounds remarkably consistent. With the exception of the Freiband remix at the start, which clears the cobwebs out of your brains to facilitate further listening. Highly, highly recommended.
But hurry: it’s a limited release: http://www.machinefabriek.nu
